Riza Mae Rabusa, a PUPian and a Diploma in Information Communication Technology (DICT) 3-3 student is currently seeking for help after a fire broke out near their house which swooped their home at St. Louise Compound, Figueroa Street, Barangay 70, Pasay City last January 4, 2021.
On her Facebook post, January 5, the fire was seen at 3:00 in the afternoon and first started at the first house of the rows in front of Rabusa's house. Due to the closeness of the houses the fire quickly spread out reaching their home. According to Rabusa, by the time that they knew about the fire, they immediately awaken their family members and quickly grabbed the baby in their household telling everyone to evacuate leaving the important things they have burn to ashes.
"We ran and saved ourselves", Rabusa said. She and her family first thought that the fire would not affect their house but there is only 3-4 meters distance between the row in front of their house. She also added that electrical wires and transaformers and LPG tanks are visible in the area and exploded as well.
"I went there and saw hat transpired and I saw our house, I rummaged inside, and saw my laptop nearly wet, I am glad that it was not soaking wet. All of our things, if it is not burned, it is wet, and some of it were covered in ash and cannot be used anymore, clothes are also wet and some of those are also covered in ash. Food items were safe in our cupboard and some of our appliances are wet and we have not yet confirmed if it can be still used. I am thankful that we have not lost too much, but still the aftermath of the situation was too much to bear, the main floor of our house was not affected by the fire but water was dripping from upstairs", Rabusa narrated.
The fire also ruthlessly turned her and her cousin's, who is currently an architecture student, school stuff such as the laptops, art materials and books into ashes in minutes.
"The pain of losing your home still stings, and every single memory we shared there will always be memorable, will always be close to our hearts, these memories are precious, the fire may be cruel and burned our things to ash, but I will not allow our memories and eventful things that transpired there be burned as well. I am physically tired, my family is also physically tired, someday, this too shall pass like all trials that happened before in my life. I am grieving, we are grieving, I weep at what we lost and this has become a lesson for all of us." she said as she expressed her grief.
