PUPIAN denies allegations of admin involvement to coalition

The PUP Independent Action Network (PUPIAN) Sentral na Konseho ng Mag-aaral (SKM) released an official statement denying connections of admin officials to their coalition on their Facebook page tonight, September 27, 2021.

In their opening statement, the PUPIAN SKM slate clarifies that they are one with the student body in the call for fair, clean, honest, and orderly elections. In light with the recent meeting with all the paralegals of parties and independent slates, together with COMELEC commissioners, and Student Publications, PUPIAN urges COMELEC to release the transcribed version as well as the recorded video of the said meeting with the consent of every party present in the meeting. “In the recently concluded paralegals and student publications meeting with the COMELEC, several points and inquiries were answered through the proper consultation with the honorable commission.” PUPIAN said in their post.

PUPIAN paralegals also encouraged student publications in joining them to push for the release of the said files and recordings so that students would be informed of what has been talked about inside the said meeting. In their letter, several points to clarify the issues were raised by the different attending groups.

“Here are the following points that were presented:

1. The issue that surrounds the term “Ardent Refusal” and the COMELEC’s denial on the claim that the Commission ardently refused to allow the student publications to cover the verification process.

2. The parties and independent CPSPA slate’s “within the 24 hours defense” that led them to conclude that the COMELEC ardently refused to allow the student publications to cover the verification process.

3. The issue on the “alleged involvement” of PUP Independent Action Network to Mr. Abraham Sagun of the Office of Student Services posted in the unity statement drafted by SAMASA PUP, PUP SPEAK, LABAN PUP, and Independent CPSPA citing the Star Century.

4. The misinterpretation of the SAMASA PUP, PUP SPEAK, LABAN PUP, and Independent CPSPA on the term “admin intervention”.

5. The motion to subpoena the author/s of the said unity statement released on September 25, 2021 motioned by Mr. Patrick Puchero, paralegal of 1 PUPIAN Independent SKM.

6. The COMELEC’s request for the SAMASA PUP, PUP SPEAK, LABAN PUP, and Independent CPSPA slate to apologize publicly regarding the false information or claim about the issue on “ardent refusal”. The Commission wanted them to clear their previous statement as those are just their assumptions and false accusations.

7. COMELEC’s advice to stop citing the Star Century.”

Finally, PUPIAN reiterates no connection with certain University administrative officials as mentioned in previous allegations against their coalition. “We can guarantee the student body and all of our stakeholders that these allegations are false and that the said faculty members have no involvement with any of our members of the coalition. We also do encourage anyone who has any questions and inquiries in the process to approach our paralegal team to address any doubts in mind. Our team has been a firm believer in accountability and transparency throughout our electoral process.”

PUPIAN closed their statement with, “The iskolars ng bayan do not deserve to be misled with selected or cherry-picked information. The iskolars ng bayan deserve the full disclosure of all the information regarding the issues raised during the previous meeting.”
