Rendered Perspective of The BambUrban Farm by PUP BARD Class 2020-2021

Architecture students of the PUP Bamboo Architecture Research and Design 3 (BARD3) course under Ar./EnP. Melodia Ramos-Sampan, MTLA; presented their research and design project titled "The BambUrban Farm" in a webinar spearheaded by the UAP National Office, today, June 05, 2021.

About 270 Filipino architects from around the world attended the webinar, "Let's do Bamboo Talk," which was a trainers' training workshop held by the UAP Special Commitee on Continuing Professional Development. A series of talks about bamboo architecture was done by Ar. Christian Salandanan, the principal architect of Sangay Architects, and three teams of trainers.

Among the trainers is Ar. Sampan, the professor of the BARD3 class of 2020-2021, who discussed the topic of "Agricultural and Technological Innovations: An Architect's Role for a Resilient Community." The class representatives Jefferson Estela, Jude Pevin Agbanlog, and Saedric Edquila presented their project, "The BambUrban Farm," which is an urban farming bamboo structure. It aims to solve food crisis, especially in a pandemic status, through the use of bamboo as a main construction material. The presentation includes the research, design, and the marketing strategy formed by the class.

Participants applauded the research and design project because of its timeliness and good mentorship by Ar. Sampan which manifested in their presentation. PUP is one of the firsts that offer a course on Bamboo Architecture in the Philippines.
