Youth organizations from PUP spearheaded by Tulong Kabataan - Sta. Mesa gathered earlier today to distribute assistance to the residence nearby PUP Sta. Mesa (Main Campus) who were affected by the recent Super Typhoon Rolly and the fire last November 2, 2020.
Relief packs were distributed in Nuestra Señora De Salvacion Parish Church, and to evacuees temporarily making shelter in the PUP NDC Court. Cash donations collected by the organization starting November 2 accumulates P36,537.63.
Over 69 families and 260 individuals are currently staying in the PUP NDC Court after fire hits their home at Road 12, NDC Compound.
In a chat interview with The Freehand, Tulong Kabataan Sta. Mesa says that they will announce on their Facebook page should there be another wave of relief operations, “After ng wave 1 po, we will announce po sa page kung meron pong another wave, pero as of the moment, tinutulungan po namin ang komunidad ng Road 12 para sa laban nila sa rehabilitasyon upang makabalik po sila sa komunidad.”
“Matapos manalasa ang tatlong magkakasunod na mga bagyo sa Luzon at ilang bahagi ng Visayas, at mga sunog sa iba't ibang bahagi ng bansa sa panahon ng pandemya, mainam na dalhin ang galit hindi lamang sa social media. Dalhin ang mga ito sa pamamagitan ng pagtulong sa masa upang sabay-sabay na makabangon at pumunta sa mga kalsada upang dalhin ang mga panawagan para sa kalusugan, kabuhayan, at karapatan,” they concluded.
The activity was joined by progressive organization from PUP including Anakbayan PUP, Anakbayan PUP COC, Anakbayan PUP CAL, Kabataan Partylist PUP, Kabataan Partylist PUP COC, League of Filipino Students PUP, SAMASA PUP, SAMASA PUP CPSPA, Panday Sining PUP, and Mulat Documentary Guild.— Rafael G.
