Every soul was once a child
Every mind, a different sky
Yet we’ve grown and been defiled
we’re shaped compliant, shaped dry
Time only chases the future
Every second would be our past
But time can bleed and rupture
Who said, “before” couldn’t last?
In this age of change, what could it cost?
To run free of guilt and sin
Re-Live our youths once wronged and lost
And bring joy to the child within
Years do not disguise innocence
Nor could decades disguise guilt
Birthmarks they are, in a sense
One is Harbored and One is Built
