Charting CAFA’s Future: A Seat at the Table with Successful Former PUPians & Industry Partners

The College of Architecture and Fine Arts hosted its first Consultative Meeting with the Alumni and Industry Partners on 9th of March 2019 at PUP CEA Building 213 R.A. Tagala Studio; a deliberation of the college’s architectural and interior design competency status and the conception of a new college program for the school year 2019-2020.

CAFA Dean Ar. Jocelyn R. Lutap, DPA, FUAP led the beginning of the program with a welcoming and appreciative message for the presence of PUP CAFA Alumni and Industry Partners in this important meeting.

Following the introductory speech of Ar. Lutap was the presentation of the college program discussed by Ar. Yan. In his presentation, Ar. Yan talked about the aftermath when a city or country is scarce in urban and environmental planning; a heavily polluted atmosphere and drastic health risk to the masses. Later on, Ar. Yan enumerated the proposed and approved subjects of the program. However, some questioned the urban planning-centralized subjects and suggested a balance of planning with consideration to the environmental safety.

The program then proceeded to the cluster consultation with which the alumni, industry partners and CAFA faculty were grouped with assigned issues and topics to talk about. The consultation lasted for about two hours and the lunch was then served.

Continuing to the program when each cluster were done with the table discussions, each cluster heads reported the collective suggestions and observations on the college that requires to be considered, scrutinized and addressed.

Ar. Royal Pineda, a prominent architect in the industry and a proud alumnus of PUP as well, shared his vision on the college’s future. Ar. Pineda shared that to be able for this college to produce more premium architects is to not only master the critical aspect of designing or CADD operation but also finding their own creative direction and philosophy; by formulating a wide array of skills that stand amongst a flock of other architects.

The presentation of cluster reports was concluded by Ar. Ted Inocencio with extensive acknowledgment to the presence of the guests here in Sintang Paaralan.
