The PUP College of Communication (COC) Student Council organized the solidarity of the 13th Anniversary of the Ampatuan Massacre commemoration, which was held online on November 24, 2022.
The Ampatuan Massacre, also known as the Maguindanao Massacre, was commemorated on its 13th anniversary and brought back to people's hearts and minds once more as a reminder to never give up the fight for ongoing justice until the truth is within reach and all suspects are held accountable by being put behind bars. The Broadcasters and the Press are joining forces along with the speaker, Ms. Lourdes Escaros of the NUJP-NCR, as they fight for justice and the overthrow of this unjust government. In the words of Ms. Lourdes Escaros, "Let us continue to make noise, let us continue to speak for the truth. Do not let us get carried away by thousands of threats to silence us. Who will reveal the truth and educate the public if no one is left to carry on our legacy? ” Moreover, academic and interest organizations gave their speeches for the Ampatuan victims after the speaker. The majority cries and shouts are to, "Defend Press Freedom and End Impunity"
Nevertheless, the media, broadcasters, and press are hoping that this fight may not simply continue on social media platforms but also gain widespread public attention. They may stumble in their role as the voice of the oppressed, but their appeal for assistance will encourage them to continue fighting for the truth as the people's scholars.
