Bringing out the colors and reflections inside the workplace is the goal of Ar. Jane Greenwood. She is the principal of Kostow Greenwood Architects and co-founded the Organization of Lesbian + Gay Architects and Designers (OLGAD) and New York City LGBT Historic Sites Project.
Advocacy has always been a part of Ar. Greenwood; an advocate for LGBT community and women’s rights. She wanted inclusivity and acceptance from the world of racism, she established an empowering space to break the barrier in a design and construction community, and has been recognized by OUT Magazine’s “the most influential LGBT People of the Year;” BUILD Magazine; Crain’s New York as a “Notable Women in Construction, Design & Architecture;” HOUZZ as one of “7 Game-Changing LGBT Architects and Design Pros You Should Know”; the Women Builders Council; and as a “Woman of Influence” by the New York Business Journal.
Shedding a light on the minority and the oppressed lead to diversity that opens opportunities and the cultivation of skills. Every race, color, and gender should be respected in the workplace. Diversity, diversity, diversity is the key to diminishing the stereotypes in a company. In her interview with Internet+sources (2018), she advised young people to let their voices be heard, “Speak up, stand out, join together, and be visible. Find a nurturing place to work—live and seek out those who will encourage and support your passion. I’m still charged up when I think about all the untapped talent and energy that young people bring to our community.” And until now, she is continuously fighting for equality.
