Seizing the endless Creat-unity (Creativity + Opportunity) as the sparks shine brightly. This year, another honorable Architecture Student in CADBE was one of the runners-up in the Vision Petron National Art Competition 2022, Ms. Khaila Mae S. Faustor, a competition that was worth trying, a shot to squeeze those creative juices.
The first-time trier of the Vision Petron with divided attention between academics and the contest was nerve-wracking at first as Khaila scanned the previous works of the other artists. Conceptualized in December 2022, started to hold her brushes in the second week of March this year and passed in the nick of time; with this uphill battle, she rose to the occasion.
‘Sa Pagitan ng mga Gusali at Baka-Sakali.’
"I want to put the reality of some Architecture students in the limelight." With the competition's theme, 'Pangarap sa Kinabukasan,' she visualized a girl, an Architecture student, who is a product of poverty. Looking at the skyscrapers and buildings, and experiencing the continuous dilemma, never stopped the girl from dreaming—a dream to be ‘Taga-disenyo ng Bayan,’ envisioning a nation with a healthy built environment.
“Nangangailangan ang bayan ng mga bagong arkitektong naglalayon na magdisenyo para sa benepisyo ng marami at hindi para sa sariling interes ng mga kapitalista, mga negosyante, at kung sino pang mga mapanlamang sa kapwa.”
This continuous milestone of Khaila doesn’t come from the competition but from the people who believe in her. “I feel ecstatic whenever there are beginner artists na nagsasabi na nai-inspire sila sa akin.” This feeling is reminding her ad infinitum to keep going.
All the rainbows, sunshine, and storms are tools to progress, the power of endless creat-unity. The acceptance of the beginner phase is what makes an artist. "Give it a try. You'll never know if the stars will align for you if you won't shoot your shot. Whether you win or not, the experience always counts."
